Since 1999
Ever since the release of Pokémon Red and Blue on the Game Boy in 1999 I’ve been a huge fan of the Pokémon games and series. Gotta catch ’em all was (and still is) the slogan and Pokémon Red is the only game in which I ever achieved this. 151 Pokémon that is, I somehow managed to get a Mew. And does Missingno count? 😉
The start of Pokémon GO
When Pokémon GO released in 2016, I couldn’t wait to start collecting Pokémon again. Almost five years later, I’m still playing this game everyday. I’ve walked 3043,8 km and caught 26.883 Pokémon in those five years.
In the beginning, everyone played this game and large groups of people who did not know each other would gather on the streets to battle and capture Pokémon together. Nowadays, the buzz has faded some, but there are still a lot of active communities.
Pokédex
During those five years, more and more Pokémon were added to the game. And just like in the Game Boy games, I lost track after generation 2…
In Pokémon GO, your Pokémon knowledge doesn’t really matter, luckily. When you see a Pokémon you don’t own yet, you want to capture it and it doesn’t matter how it looks or what it’s called. And eventually, you’ll learn to recognize them. You can name most of them before you know it.
